Marlborough School, an independent, college preparatory school in Los Angeles for 530 young women in grades 7-12, seeks a dynamic Spanish instructor to join the faculty for a part-time leave position from December 2017 to March 2018.

In the World Languages Department, we expect our language learners to attain increasingly higher levels of proficiency as measured by the national standards set forth by the American Council of Teachers of Foreign Languages (ACTFL). The Marlborough Spanish course sequence develops the four language skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and includes appropriate cultural, historical, and literary materials at all levels. In addition, the Department seeks to expose students to current events, culture, and identities in the Spanish-speaking world. To better facilitate our goals, we expect students to use little or no English in class, even at the novice level.

The ideal candidate for the position has, at minimum, a B.A. in Spanish, at least 3-5 years of teaching experience, preferably in an immersion classroom for advanced beginners (a 90/10 model), and enthusiasm for teaching Middle School.
