The Allen-Stevenson School, founded in 1883, is a K-9 independent school for boys with an enrollment of 420 students. The School seeks a Director of the Annual Fund, a senior member of the development team, to build upon an established and successful program that raises unrestricted funds from the School’s constituencies, including parents, alumni, past parents, grandparents and friends.
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Director of the Annual Fund will be responsible for managing - and growing - the current $2.5M annual giving program.
Lead a comprehensive, strategic plan of action to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors to the Annual Fund to meet and exceed annual financial and participation goals (currently $2,500,000, 93% parent participation, 20% alumni participation).
With Director of Development and Annual Fund Co-Chairs, develop strategies for growing the Annual Fund to meet the financial needs of the School's operating budget
Develop and maintain strong relationships with the school community to build and support Allen-Stevenson’s volunteer cohort, recruiting and managing dedicated volunteers who assist with peer-to-peer solicitations
Manage a portfolio of donors and directly solicit constituents for leadership annual gifts
Oversee all Annual Fund solicitations and communications — print and online— and acknowledgement letters
Collaborate with the Development and Communications team in developing copy for brochures, and ensuring accuracy in Annual Reports
Track and analyze results; communicate progress and produce financial and status reports
Collaborate with the Director of Alumni Relations on strategy, planning, and execution for alumni giving
Partner with Director of Development in planning for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship events including dinners, cocktail parties and breakfasts
With Database Manager, ensure accuracy of gift data entry (for all funds) and timely acknowledgement letters
Conduct research on current and prospective donors as necessary
Assist with Allen-Stevenson’s capital campaign as necessary
Other tasks, as assigned, to fulfill goals of the School and the Development Office
Bachelor’s degree and at least five (5) years of professional experience in annual giving or related fundraising programs
An understanding the role of annual giving in a building a culture of philanthropy
Proven track record of developing and sustaining successful fundraising operations
Excellent interpersonal skills; an ability to develop strong relationships and motivate volunteers and donors
Strong analytical skills in tracking and evaluating donor giving patterns and trends
Clear communication skills, written and verbal
Excellent command of office technology tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel and a donor database
Collaborative spirit and strong team ethic; sense of professionalism and humor in dealing with donors, volunteers and colleagues
Innate ability to show respect and honor the dignity of all donors, regardless of the gift size
Willingness to fully embrace the Allen-Stevenson mission and culture
Prior experience with independent school fundraising
Experience with solicitations of $10,000+
