The Allen-Stevenson School, founded in 1883, is a K-9 independent school for boys with an enrollment of 420 students. The School seeks a Development Associate, who will be an integral part of the Development Office, interfacing with the school community and assisting in the operation of a successful development and alumni relations program.
This position reports to the Director of Development, and offers growth opportunities in all areas of development and alumni relations, including assisting with our capital campaign, special events and leadership volunteer relations.
In concert with the Director of Development, assist with day-to-day planning, coordination, and management of capital campaign activities.
Manage gift and pledge tracking and other key campaign documents.
Prepare customized prospect research, briefing, and solicitation materials.
Assist with special events such as Alumni Reunion, Grandparents and Special Friends Day, and various donor cultivation and recognition events.
Receive and manage RSVPs to events; generate nametags; track event attendance in the database.
Serve as a contact for leadership volunteer groups including the Parents Association, assisting with support as needed, and helping to ensure the success of activities and events.
Assist in coordination of direct mail (invitations, publications, etc.) and interface with the mail house on large mailings.
Draft and generate gift acknowledgement letters, pledge reminders, and other correspondence as needed.
Assist office systems such as filing, copying, and supply ordering.
Proofreading, editing and writing as needed.
Answer main development phone line, providing assistance to constituents regarding gifts, events, new address information, and other requests for information, and re-direct calls as needed.
Provide support to Development Director, managing their calendar and scheduling donor and volunteer meetings.
Other tasks, as assigned, to fulfill the goals of the School and the Development Office.
Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of development or non-profit experience.
Aptitude for and experience with development database software or other data management tools (experience with Senior Systems a plus).
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Excel and Word.

Efficient, reliable team player with a positive outlook and a welcoming demeanor. The position requires the ability to interface professionally with donors and volunteers, and discretion with confidential or sensitive information.
Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, interpersonal skills, good judgment, and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment.
