Church Membership Requirement: An active member of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts.
Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or five to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
The Head of School shall be the administrative and educational leader of the School. The Head of School shall supervise the academic and administrative operation of the School and shall oversee and cooperate with all subsidiary activities sponsored by the School, parent groups, faculty, or the Board of Trustees. The Head of School shall be responsible for the preparation of an annual budget for presentation, discussion, and approval by the Board of Trustees which reflects the philosophy of Clairbourn. All administrative, faculty, and staff members’ duties shall be delineated by the Head of School and these employees shall be responsible to the Head of School. The Head of School is responsible for employing, evaluating, and discharging all faculty, administrative, and staff personnel.
The Head of School shall plan for Clairbourn’s future, i.e., enrollment objectives; academic, athletic, and other developmental course offerings; curriculum; class size; faculty size; plant additions and alterations; and financial requirements, and keep the Board of Trustees advised of the nature and status of these plans. The Head of School is responsible for enrollment; admissions; discipline; student dismissals; financial affairs; school moral standards; and fund-raising. The Head of School is responsible for the maintenance of good parent, donor, alumni, and community relations.
Partial List of Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Formulates plans and policies for educational program and submits them to Board of Trustees for approval.
Develops and evaluates educational program to ensure conformance to professional standards and Trustee expectations.
Develops, coordinates and monitors all teachers, faculty, staff, and administrators through conducting periodic classroom observations, through meetings, and completing/ documenting performance evaluations.
Interprets program and policies of the school to school personnel, to individuals and community groups, and to governmental agencies.
Responsible for the delineation of job responsibilities for all faculty positions.
Responsible for the prompt and complete implementation of all approved operational policies.
Responsible for overall effectiveness of the school’s fundraising efforts.
Represents the school in its relations with state and federal agencies and with local, state, regional, and national educational organizations and accrediting agencies such as but not limited to the NAIS, CAIS and WASC.
