The Director of Academic Affairs is the institutional thought leader who oversees the implementation of Strategic Directions and K-12 curricular and programmatic innovation. This job requires first-rate managerial, organizational, writing, technological and communication skills plus the ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships across the school community. Ideal candidates should have a strong background in K-12 teaching and curriculum development, scheduling and equity and inclusion practices. We are looking to fill this position for the 2018 – 2019 school year.
Specific responsibilities include:
Leading key areas of the Strategic Directions implementation process on the faculty level in conjunction with the Division Directors, Department Chairs and Head of School.
Providing a K-12 perspective for and participating on the Education and Equity Committee of the Board of Trustees.
Developing partnerships with international, national and local organizations including the Educational Advisory Board (EAB) and The Shreyas School and Foundation in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
Chairing D2 and D3, two curricular and programmatic committees that include the Division Directors, Department Chairs and other school educational leaders.
Creating academic policies and guidelines in conjunction with Division Directors.
Working with Division Directors to organize the academic course registration process, review schedules and ensure requirements are met.
Coordinating registration for online courses during the academic year.
Ensuring appropriate Scope and Sequence documents and managing the ATLAS software.
Reviewing grading policies and grades to ensure the integrity of our curriculum.
In conjunction with the Assistant Head of School, supervise Summer Programs including camps, immersion trips, summer coursework, divisional writing workshops, the Davies Exposure & Enrichment Program and our partnership with Horizons Greater DC.
