Miriam: The Learning Disability Experts is proud of a legacy of educational service to the St. Louis community that spans over 50 years. The only “A to Z” resource in the region for children with learning disabilities, Miriam helps students who are struggling in school unlock their potential. Through its three programs, Miriam School, Miriam Academy and Miriam Learning Center, Miriam reaches over 1000 students annually through its comprehensive services. Miriam helps identify a child’s needs and provide solutions.
TITLE OF POSITION: Substitute Special Education Teacher at Miriam School
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s Degree with certification in an area of special education and classroom leadership experience
REPORTS TO: Head of School
POSITION SUMMARY: In the absence of the Special Education Teacher, the substitute is responsible for providing instruction and managing the learning environment according to the lesson plans provided by the absent teacher.
STATUS: As needed
Review with the Associate Head of School the plans and schedules to be adhered to during the school day
Follow the lesson plans provided by the absent teacher
Maintain the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned
Interact in a professional manner with students and parents
Encourage, monitor, and promote student progress
Maintain student confidentiality
Adhere to all procedures, guidelines, and policies followed by regular teachers in line with recommended teaching procedure
