The CSF Head of School is the sole employee of the CSF Board of Trustees, and is responsible for providing institutional direction, articulating mission and defining purpose, in collaboration and consultation with the Board of Trustees.
The Head of School will continue building upon CSF's core strengths, while also leading the development of short and long-range strategies to enhance the school’s already excellent programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure consistency of mission and values across all CSF departments - Diligently select, hire, and evaluate Principals, Directors, and other direct reports, and provide director support to the Assistant Head in selecting and hiring the direct reports of the Assistant Head - Develop, implement, promote and monitor adherence to CSF-wide (or multi-departmental) policies (including but not limited to standards of conduct), procedures (including but not limited to disciplinary procedures), and programs - Conduct periodic program evaluations - Submit reports to external agencies as required - Conduct regular meetings of the faculty and staff, using this as one mechanism by which to communicate new policies and procedures, reinforce existing ones, and seek feedback. - Partner with the CSF Board of Trustees in designing/ refreshing and monitoring the CSF strategic plan and associated metrics - Take the lead in executing the CSF strategic plan - Support the Assistant Head of School in overseeing collaboration between the Director of Curriculum and the principals to facilitate curriculum design/ implementation and faculty and staff professional development - Provide the Board of Trustees with robust reports, dashboards, and data by which to empower the Board to fulfill its duties in oversight of school functioning and achievement of goals and metrics, as well as by which for the Board to make data-driven decisions - Attend and make presentations at Board of Trustee meetings and participate actively in relevant Board committees - Support the Assistant Head of School in coordinating and overseeing faculty and staff evaluation, recruitment, and retention Support the Assistant Head of School in coordinating new program development in conjunction with department directors - Conduct Heads Council meetings, consisting of Directors, principals, and the Assistant Head of School - Oversee CSF's commitment to diversity and inclusion - Oversee CSF's commitment to sustainability - Support the development and sustainability of CSF's faculty- and staff-based Innovation Committee - Support CSF's Faculty/Staff and Parent/Student Survey Committee, utilize its findings to influence strategy and corrective action planning, and be responsive to this and other feedback from parents, students, faculty, and staff - Interact with parents, students, faculty, staff, alumni, etc. at back-to-school nights, admission open houses, new parent orientations, alumni events, plays/concerts, athletic events, chapels, etc. - Ensure the ongoing safety and security of the students, employees, and facilities, in collaboration with the Assistant Head of School, Directors, and Principals - Promote visibility and awareness of CSF in the community and to coordinate successful outreach efforts, leading by example (and mentoring) the Director of Advancement and Assistant Head of School - Supervise the Director of Finance in the preparation of preliminary and final budgets - Monitor income, expenditures, collections, and cash flow - Maintain appropriate financial records - Oversee the employee benefit program, as well as employee recruitment and retention - Oversee all matters of employment, orientation, training, and performance evaluation of personnel, as well as any corrective actions and dismissals - Oversee and monitor student recruitment and retention, and their strategies - Oversee marketing efforts, and their alignment with the strategic plan - Oversee college guidance efforts - Represent the school in its relations with state and federal agencies and with local, state, regional, and national educational organizations and accrediting agencies. - Other appropriate duties as assigned by the Board of Trustees

Required Education, Training, and Experience
- Advanced degree in Education or relevant field to the duties of this Head of School position - Minimum of 5 years of experience at an independent school as an assistant head of school, principal, head of curriculum, head of academic affairs, head of a department, or equivalent leadership position - Minimum of 3 years of experience managing and monitor budgets at an organizational or departmental level - Minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising at an organizational or departmental level - Experience in utilizing databases and collecting and analyzing data to appropriately establish and monitor metrics and to facilitate data-driven decision-making

Preferred Training and Experience
- Prior experience as a Head of School, Associate Head of School, or Assistant Head of School - Formal leadership training and/or certification - Ten or more years of experience as a teacher or administrator at an independent school - Experience, in a lead role, conducting or overseeing self-audits at an independent school and in conducting or overseeing preparedness for audits by external accrediting/ re-accrediting authorities. - Experience in conducting and analyzing electronic surveys (e.g., Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey, other equivalent software)
