The Director of Institutional Advancement at Archmere Academy is responsible for organizing and managing the development and public relations activities of the institution. Recognizing that the Headmaster of Archmere Academy is the main contact with the external environment, the Director of Institutional Advancement will facilitate and assist the Headmaster in interacting with foundations, corporations, major donors, alumni, parents and friends of the Academy. The Director of Institutional Advancement reports to the Headmaster and is a member of Headmaster’s Council.
Development/Fundraising: The Director of Institutional Advancement is responsible for assisting the Headmaster, the Principal, and the Advancement Committee of the Board of Trustees in creating a comprehensive advancement plan that is based on the mission statement and the strategic plan of Archmere Academy.
Is responsible for the implementation of the Advancement Plan.
Is engaged actively in cultivating, asking, and stewarding donors with board members senior administrators, and volunteers.
Oversees the annual Archmere Fund Campaign.
Oversees the Planned Giving and Major Gifts Program.
Prepares Foundation Requests and Corporate Solicitations.
Facilitates the planning and daily management of any potential capital campaigns with the approval and assistance of the Headmaster and the Board of Trustees.
Oversees the maintenance of a database that captures all past and present giving to Archmere Academy.
Develops appropriate recognition events for all constituencies providing financial support to Archmere Academy.
Public Relations:The Director of Institutional Advancement works with the Headmaster, the Principal, the Director of Enrollment and Admissions, the Marketing Manager, and the appropriate board committees with the development of a comprehensive public relations plan that is based on the mission statement and strategic plan of the school.
Provides regular and informative updates of fund raising progress to the appropriate Archmere constituency that includes alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends through the Archmerean or other appropriate venues
Develops an annual report that includes a “state of the school” and a yearly accounting of fundraising activities that is to be received by foundations, corporations, major donors, planned giving participants, alumni, parents, and friends.
Alumni Relations:The Director of Institutional Advancement shall oversee the liaison role of the Director of Development and Alumni Relations with the Alumni Council with the purpose of advancing Archmere’s mission statement and strategic plan
Oversees reunion and homecoming activities
Assures the maintenance of the alumni database
Contributes to the school archives by properly documenting each school year
Management and Institutional Advancement Office: The Director of Institutional Advancement manages all of the above responsibilities with the assistance of the appropriate personnel selected by the Director of Institutional Advancement and approved by the Headmaster
Ensures that the staff of the Institutional Advancement Office be involved with professional development courses in the areas of development, constituent relations, grant writing, and data base management.
Develops and monitors the yearly budget of the Office of Institutional Advancement.
Presents the budget to the Headmaster for approval.
Any other duties as assigned.
Solid track record of fundraising experience as a compensated professional.
Management experience, with excellent collaborative skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Computer skills, preferably with knowledge of fundraising software, in addition to word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and data base software.
Demonstrable success in donor cultivation and giving.
Organized, neat, and efficient.
Adheres closely to timelines, calendar, and deadlines.
