Head-Royce School is a preeminent, co-educational, independent, K-12 day school in the hills of Oakland, CA. Head-Royce is in search of an individual to join our Advancement team as Campaign Director, a newly-created position charged with organizing and implementing the next capital campaign which will be the largest in our School’s history. With a 130-year history of innovative education, whole child philosophy and philanthropic culture, Head-Royce is poised to launch an exciting campaign to align our physical spaces and endowed funds with our five-year strategic plan, Bridge to 2022.
The Campaign Director reports to the Director of Advancement and is responsible for day-to-day project management of the capital campaign including fundraising, volunteer management, special events, donor stewardship, publications, records, reporting, and research. He/she will provide senior-level support for the Director of Advancement and participate actively in strategic and tactical planning for the School’s major/leadership giving program.
A qualified candidate will assume full responsibility for tasks listed below:
Work with the Head of School, Board of Trustees, Director of Advancement and Campaign Cabinet to identify prospective donors, nurture relationships and secure contributions to the campaign
Develop and oversee the campaign operating plan, communications plan and master calendar
Manage and continually refine campaign prospect pool, conducting and analyzing prospect research and maintaining all campaign-related records and files
Support work of Campaign Steering Committee, helping recruit, train, and manage campaign volunteers
Supervise and implement all campaign events and activities
Supervise campaign gift processing and implement acknowledgement, and stewardship procedures and activities
Manage campaign budget, reconciliation and reporting
Plan and implement production of all letters, proposals, updates, and other campaign collateral materials
Manage portfolio of leadership/major gift prospects, building donor pipeline, stewarding key relationships and soliciting leadership gift prospects
Work with Board of Trustees, Head of School, campaign leadership and Director of Advancement to cultivate and steward all major gift prospects and donors
Schedule and provide supporting material for all major gift solicitations
Serve as senior-level member of Advancement team, along with Alumni Relations, Annual Giving and Communications, acting as Advancement team leader for major gift strategy and portfolio moves management
Special projects as assigned
Experience in campaign management or campaign-related activity, 2-3 years minimum preferred
Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum of five years’ experience in major gift fundraising or in a directly-related field
Strong organizational and management skills with a proven ability to set priorities and meet multiple deadlines in a timely manner
Proven ability to work with, supervise, and motivate others
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills
High level of computer literacy and competence required – particularly related to Raiser’s Edge database and software for reporting, calendars and timelines
