Brooks School seeks a hard working, responsible individual to oversee the complete operation of the athletic equipment room. This individual will work closely with the Director of Athletics and Associate Director of Athletics maintaining proper equipment and uniform inventory. This is a ten month (academic year) benefited position in which the individual will work Monday through Saturday, 40 hours per week, with times during the day varying based on game schedule.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY OBJECTIVES
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Issues athletic equipment to coaches and athletes. Keeps accurate equipment records. Collects equipment on a seasonal basis and maintains seasonal inventory.
Inspects all athletic equipment, making minor repairs. Sends uniforms and other equipment out for reconditioning as needed. Responsible for athletic equipment meeting certification standards.
Unpacks, labels, inventories and stores all new equipment.
Organizes and maintains equipment room.
Assigns lockers and issues locks and laundry loops. Maintains records for all.
Oversees athletic laundry operation – washing, drying, folding and storing.
Recommend equipment purchases subject to Director of Athletics approval. Stays up to date on available products and innovations.
Game day field/facility set-up. Clocks, water coolers, field markers.
Coordinates maintenance of scoreboards.
Manages practice equipment and assists in bringing it out to field at the start of season, checking the condition during the season and storing following the season.
Assigns visiting team and officials locker rooms on game days. Escort to those rooms upon arrival.
Clock operation during game days, as needed.
Packs and coordinates athletic equipment for away competition.
Travel to away competition as needed.
Communicates with students-athletes and coaches regarding uniforms not returned on game day.
Performs all duties with professionalism, which includes relating to others in a courteous, cooperative, sensitive, and congenial manner.
Assists the Director of Athletics with other responsibilities as requested.
Bachelor of Science. in Sports Management or other related field preferred.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Ability to effectively present information in person, by phone and in writing, and respond to questions from students, parents, school employees and the general public. Ability to analyze and interpret correspondence, email communications, professional publications and technical manual.
Ability to anticipate and to plan both short and long term.
Ability to manage and prioritize competing and demanding goals.
Ability to move freely around a large campus, and between and among various athletic venues.
Proficient with computerized word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
Ability to handle heavy equipment.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to be flexible with job hours; must be able to work nights and weekends as necessary.
Ability to lift and move athletic equipment and to move laundry in and out of washers and dryers.
Ability to drive School bussettes, and travel to athletic events.
