The Episcopal School of Baton Rouge seeks a Band Director to begin July 2018.
The Band Director’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, directing, managing, and leading a well-balanced upper and middle school program of instrumental music including performance, music appreciation, harmony and theory. The director also provides opportunities for students to perform for the school, the community, and at band competitions.

Personal and Professional Characteristics
Excellent musical performance in one area and pedagogical skills in the wind, brass and percussion areas.
Demonstrated experience in a school setting working with bands, small ensembles and in studio teaching for both classes and extracurricular activities.
Evidence of performance in high level performing ensemble is preferred.
Able to manage a budget and instrument inventory, and comfortable with educational technology.
Organizational and project management skills that include an ability to prioritize tasks and complete projects with accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to collaborate with administrators and colleagues to develop and evolve the band program as needed to best fit future student needs and applicant’s individual interests and talents.
The position is full-time. An Undergraduate or Master’s Degree in Music (Performance or Education) is preferred and knowledge of independent schools is desirable.
