The Harley School seeks a full-time Hospice, Service Learning and Mindfulness teacher to begin by the end of November 2017. This position entails teaching three sections of our unique Upper School Hospice class, leading a Middle School “flex time” activity, and perhaps leading a trimester elective. We’ll also expect this person to help coordinate and promote mindfulness activities and experiences throughout the school. Additional duties may include advising, homeroom, chaperoning, oversight of a major activity, independent studies, etc.
The Harley Hospice Educator teaches the senior elective Hospice course; collaborates with Greater Rochester area comfort care homes for classroom support and field experiences; arranges and leads an annual medical mission to Belize with our partners in the Rochester medical community; coordinates Hospice-related senior internships; and organizes the 11th grade “HANDS” volunteering program (a “pre-Hospice” opportunity).
