Watkinson School, offering inventive teaching to Hartford and surrounding communities since 1881, seeks a full-time, temporary Learning Skills Program Education Specialist. The successful candidate will act as a resource to students’ teachers and must be knowledgeable about class/ homework assignments and projects to assist students on curriculum based assignments. Strong teaching, communication, and writing skills are required. The Education Specialist is responsible for math instruction, reading comprehension support, organization/study strategies, and written expression in both small group and one to one settings. Extra duties include weekly faculty/department meetings, year-end faculty meetings, grounds monitoring during designated times, supervision of some study halls and co-advising a group of 5-8 students. Ability to teach Spanish would be a plus.

Applicants should have a Special Education degree (grades 6-12). Teaching certification not required. 3-5 years of teaching experience preferred.
