The Ellis School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is seeking a Lower School Division Head to begin July 1, 2018. The only all-girls independent school in Pittsburgh serving students in grades Pre-Kindergarten-12, the School is known for offering a rigorous college preparatory curriculum in a supportive, welcoming environment. The School serves approximately four hundred girls evenly distributed across three divisions, with the Lower School Division comprised of Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 4. The Lower School is particularly proud of its focus on the whole child, its rich and balanced curriculum, and its joyful community of caring. Girls in the Lower School are well known by their teachers, and by each other, allowing them to grow very deep roots and strong wings.
Preference will be given to candidates with significant experience as an early childhood or elementary classroom teacher, experience developing and guiding curriculum, knowledge of differences in learning styles, highly developed organizational and interpersonal skills, and proven experience as a lower school leader responsible for hiring and mentoring faculty and working closely with parents.
