Recently, the Lycée Français de New York engineered a tremendous self-transformation. In order to provide bilingual French and American education of the highest standard, the Lycée has adopted a project-based learning approach and has created new teaching and learning spaces.
Now, we wish to focus on our attention on the library spaces.
We will address the question: how well do our current spaces serve our goal of assuring that students develop 21st century literacy skills including reading, information and media literacy and project-based learning?
The research assistant will create detailed map for each grade level in the school, outlining student and faculty interaction with various resources -- physical books and periodicals, technology, spaces and people.
Chief Personal Characteristics and Experience:
Comfort and experience designing protocols and conducting interviews for young children, teens and adults
Experience analyzing both qualitative and quantitative information
Strict adherence to deadlines
Bilingual in French and English
Knowledge of the French and American education systems preferred
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to the following:
Working with Lycée team to create interview protocol
Designing the sample in order to represent the diverse Lycée community
Conducting over 50 interviews with students, faculty and parents
Record audio and transcribe the interviews
Analyze transcriptions to map results and define trends
Provide report to project team along with key recommendations
The research assistant is expected to complete the entire process within 8 weeks of the start date.
