Reports to: Head of Upper School
A bachelor’s degree in history (or an associated field) required; graduate training in history at the master’s or Ph.D. level preferred.
Experience teaching history and economics at the secondary and/or college level.
Proficiency with interdisciplinary studies and instructional technology preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities
Expected teaching responsibilities include a two-semester sequence in economics along with an introductory skills and methods course or a course in ancient world history.
Active participation in professional and curricular development.
Serve as an advisor to students as part of the school’s larger commitment to student support.
Contribute to the larger school community through coaching or sponsoring other extracurricular programs.
In addition to experience and a strong educational background, successful candidates demonstrate a love of working with children, an engaging teaching style, the ability to interact well with parents and colleagues, and a willingness to create and promote an inclusive learning environment.
Ability to engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; sitting and standing for long periods of time; ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified.
