Magen David Yeshivah is looking for a Department Chair for our Hebrew Language Program for the 2018 - 2019 school year. The department chair will be responsible to develop and implement curriculum that varies per grade and track, running from 9th grade through 12th grade. The chair will also need to take the lead position on creating a curriculum that prepares students for the Yerushalmi exam and he/she will need to organize administration of the exam. The department chair is expected to work with teachers to develop their pedagogy skills, navigate curricular issues, and communicate with parents and students about that curriculum. Additionally, the department chair will be expected to be an integral part of our Israel programming, taking a lead position in inculcating a love for Israel, its people and its culture in our Yeshivah. The chair will also be expected to work closely with our chief academic officers to ensure smooth implementation of all curricula and programming, bringing with him/her a spirit of teamwork and collaboration.
Strong knowledge of the content area
Ability to organize programs, personnel, and activities required for productive learning in the school
Ability to relate to a wide variety of people and to observe, listen, motivate, and provide leadership
Ability to develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate program goals and initiatives
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Education: Master’s Degree in related field
Experience: Minimum 3 years supervisory and/or administrative experience and 3 additional years of classroom teaching experience required
