Gill St. Bernard’s School, an independent, nonsectarian, college preparatory day school for students Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12, is seeking an individual to join our community as an Associate Director of Admission & Assistant Director of Financial Aid.
The Associate Director of Admission and Assistant Director of Financial Aid helps to lead the team that designs and executes the admission and enrollment processes. He/she assists prospective GSB students and their families through the process that begins with the family’s first contact with the school through enrollment. This includes travel and recruitment activities, interviews with students and their families, telephone conversations and written correspondence. In addition, this position helps to develop and support admission practices that encourage families to consider GSB, determine students’ eligibility, encourage accepted students to enroll, and guarantee that information about the school is appropriately and accurately represented to the community at large.
This position is responsible for representing GSB at fairs, conferences and school visits, in order to encourage families’ consideration of GSB and clarify our admission processes. The Associate Director will assist with the planning and execution of on-campus recruitment events.
The Associate Director Admissions is responsible for interviewing prospective students and their parents as well as summarizing impressions for inclusion in applicants’ admission folders. Provide information and encouragement throughout admission process to applicants and their families. Provide initial readership of admission folder, and perform yield outreach functions for prospective students.
Admission process management: Responsible for oversight of the sequence and stages of the admission process from inquiry to enrollment for applicants.
Works with daily operations support staff to evaluate, update and provide quality control over admission print information (catalog, fair hand-outs, etc.) and application forms.
Works with Director, faculty and administration to develop and execute retention strategies for current students.
Tracks stages of admission folder completion including written correspondence to families and oversight of admission decision letters and telephone calls.
Works with admission committee, counselor/learning specialist to responsibly gather extra information needed for applicants as needed.
Works with admission interviewers and parent representatives to yield accepted student enrollment.
Works with Director to design and coordinate admission committee processes.
Works with Director to design and coordinate enrollment management processes.
Works with Director to design and coordinate financial aid processes.
Recruits and co-supervises student tour guides.
Provides support for and/or supervise short-term projects necessary to the success of Admission Office practices.
Participates in evening and weekend activities as needed.
Attends faculty meetings as needed.
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree required
5 Years of experience in admissions
Commitment to the philosophy of an independent school community and a working style consistent with GSB school values
Proficient with Mac or PC systems: Word, Excel and database management
Excellent interpersonal, public speaking, telephone and writing skills
Self-motivated, flexible, willing to work beyond traditional office hours, including evening and weekend events
