Under the direction of the Academy (9-12) and Junior School (K-8) Principals, the Director of K-12 Strategic Initiatives will manage and support projects that increase the School’s capacity to realize the Aims of a Punahou Education for all students. The Director will lead planning, organization and management of projects that move our educational vision across the K-12 enterprise including our accreditation and self-study process. The Director will develop project plans including the scope statement, work breakdown structure, schedule, and communication plan. The Director will work with community stakeholders to develop a shared vision of outcomes, manage expectations and ensure resource availability. The Director will take a transdisciplinary, interdependent and interdepartmental view of our school system by building team cohesiveness, leading, mentoring, training, and motivating in order to facilitate cooperation, and ensure project efficiency. This will include regular organization and facilitation of cross functional project meetings to plan, track and report on the progress of projects and determine future course.
Position Details: Department: K-12 Initiatives Status: Regular Full-Time FLSA Status: Exempt Work Year: 12 month Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. Must be flexible to work beyond scheduled hours and/or weekends as needed.
Qualities and Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in Education or related field. Masters Degree preferred.
Five (5) years of leadership experience is a school setting.
Technically proficient and creative; successful in both collaboration and as an independent thinker.
Project management and administration experience in a complex and dynamic organization.
Demonstrable success in developing collaborative teams that work from shared values to achieve strategic priorities; highly experienced and skilled at planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating activities appropriate to the advancement of organizational goals. Ability to create structures and develop frameworks to increase clarity and transparency of decisions, trade-offs, and impact on organizational resources.
Able to identify shifts in mindsets, operating assumptions and behaviors that are necessary to implement change.
Demonstrated ability in sound, sensitive, ethical, evidence-based decision-making and judgment.
Tactical and strategic experience with demonstrated success in developing and executing on highly visible and sensitive organizational initiatives.
Ability to work independently and with self-direction.
Strong consultative and advisory skills; demonstrated excellence in influence and leadership, ability to build trust, is a team leader and player who motivates and educates other team members and understands the value of interpersonal relationship building.
Excellent oral and written communication and clear analytical thinking and reasoning.
Ability to relate and interact with ethnically, culturally, and socio-economically diverse populations and demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Ability to work with external funders and represent the School to external constituents.
