We have an immediate need for a Permanent Substitute for Special Education at our Brooklyn school. The school year is consistent with the Jewish calendar and closed during the summer.
In a classroom environment Permanent Roving Substitute for our Special Education Academy will assist in planning and supervising a warm, nurturing developmentally appropriate environment for the development of the whole child while practicing Magen David Yeshivah’s high level of care and educational standards.
Special Education Roving Substitute will be part of Magen David Yeshivah’s Chehebar Academy which serves the educational needs of children with learning disabilities. Teachers will offer programs for students in Grades 1-8 with average to above average intelligence who have language-based learning disabilities and who perform optimally in a self-contained classroom. The Academy does not accept children with behavioral challenges that are not otherwise addressed.
Collaborating with the lead teacher in planning the curriculum and reviewing lesson plans.
Preparing and studying the material to be taught, in order to be knowledgeable of the objectives of the lesson.
Developing instructional course materials, and innovating ideas to make learning flexible and enjoyable.
Supporting differentiated instruction by working with students' particular learning styles and needs.
Tracking and rating students' progress during lessons, and on formative and summative assessments.
Meeting with the lead teacher to reflect on your observations of the lesson.
Tending to all class responsibilities to complete scheduled targets in the lead teacher's absence.
Attend meetings and discussions to understand the functioning of the classroom and the strategies implemented.
Assisting and offering ideas in classroom and bulletin board design.
Associate teacher should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (BA) in special education or related field (Speech, Psychology, etc). May have Allegra Franco certificate in place of a Bachelor’s degree.
Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience.
Must be working toward completing a Master’s degree in Special Education. May have Semicha Rabbinic Ordination in place of Master’s degree.
