The Ransom Everglades School, a grades 6-12 coed, independent school located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida, seeks a Director of Athletics and Physical Education.
The Director of Athletics and Physical Education is charged with leading the Athletics and PE Department, executing its mission, and managing its facilities and human resources. The Director of Athletics and PE must successfully oversee the physical education curriculum and cultivate a diverse array of competitive and intramural athletic programs that focus on the development of all participants. The director will also ensure a broad and competitive balance in inter-scholastic competition, structuring an athletics program that aligns with the school’s size, the intake point of the school’s students, and the school’s strategic goals. The Director of Athletics and Physical Education reports to the Head of School, is a member of the school’s leadership team, and works closely with the Heads of the Middle and Upper Schools. A successful candidate will possess the following:
Bachelor's degree and advanced degree in a field relevant to athletics and/or education.
A minimum of five years’ experience in athletics working with adolescents and a keen understanding of the importance of athletics on their emotional, physical, and academic wellbeing.
Extensive experience in athletics as a coach, physical education instructor or athletic administrator in secondary schools or higher education.
