FLSA Classification: Non-exempt, year-round position
Reports To: Auxiliary Programs Director
Hours: Full time/10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
The Post Oak School, a nationally respected Montessori school, seeks an assistant for two after school programs—students ages 2.5–4.5 years old and students ages 6–12.
Hours are 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. (Mon.–Fri.) including approximately 20 full days (8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.) throughout the school year. The school seeks a candidate who works effectively with a wide age range of children, and takes great initiative.
Receive directions well and be comfortable assuming a supportive role
Aid the teacher with a variety of responsibilities
Model grace and courtesy at all times
Take on the role of the responsible adult when the lead teacher is not present
Ensure that materials look good and are ready for use
Assist with laundry and dishwashing duties
Assist with lunch, nap, and dismissal procedures
Engage with students in games and art activities
A. or B.S degree in education, child development, family studies, or psychology is preferred as well as knowledge of Montessori education.
Two + years of classroom experience or equivalent
Spanish speaker preferred but not required
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Regularly sit, talk, and listen
Regularly bend and stoop
Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
