Current Conditions and Future Focus
Mount Vernon Presbyterian School serves 940 students in Preschool through grade 12. Established in 1972, the School has two campuses. The Founders Campus encompasses the Early Learning Center, the Preschool, the Lower School (grades K-4), and half of the Middle School (grades 5-6). Grades 7-8 round out the Middle School on the Glenn Campus, which is also the home of the Upper School (grades 9-12). Mount Vernon is located in the heart of Sandy Springs, Georgia, within the metropolitan Atlanta area.
We live in a world of exponential change. Learning in the future, how might we multiply our influence, increase our value, drive and design innovation, inspire one another, expand our reach, and deepen our impact? We have been building something exceptional.
During the past five years, Mount Vernon has experienced a period of transformation, propelling the School to becoming a leading, innovative school in the country, evidenced by the:
emergence of brand identity in Atlanta, throughout the United States, and internationally;
and growth in inquiries, applications, and enrollment in the midst of a recession.
To continue to set the conditions for learners to excel in college, career, and citizenship, there is still much work to be done. As a school of inquiry, innovation, and impact, we see three essential questions--design drivers--guiding our future work in our next strategic iteration known as MVx:
How might we make school more reflective of real life?
How might we empower all learners to be seekers and explorers?
How might we inspire one another -- and the larger world -- through the world we undertake together?
