The Peck School, a K-8, independent school in Morristown, NJ, is currently seeking an energetic, creative, and skilled music and drama teacher for a leave replacement position between January 8 and April 16, 2018. This individual should demonstrate strong organizational skills and a commitment to sharing a love of the arts with middle schoolers. Responsibilities will include general music instruction and music electives in grades 5 through 8, as well as drama instruction, the direction of a play and a musical, and the preparations for a full-school concert. The ideal candidate will also be able to provide accompaniment to performances, lead a chorus, and teach keyboard and music composition.
All candidates should have experience teaching in a classroom setting, as well as exceptional communication skills (both oral and written) and familiarity working with a wide range of technology, including GarageBand. Significant recent professional development and knowledge of best practices in music education are a plus. A background or degree in music education is required.
