Summary: Counsels students in their academic, personal, and social development..
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Guides individual students to plan, monitor, and manage their academic, personal, and social development
Assures proper academic placement of students
Consults with parents, teachers, learning center, Kesher, and outside professionals
Mediates between students and teachers
Coordinates student academic and behavioral plans
Implements necessary schedule changes for students throughout the year
Facilitates grade level student focused meetings
Arranges and conducts parent/teacher staffings/conferences as necessary
Coordinates special awards and programs such as Duke Tip, DAANS, etc.
Identifies and monitors behavioral/emotional/academic needs of students and develops plan and coordinates with teachers
Provides individual and group sessions to assist with academic, emotional, social and personal issues relating to students
Develops and implements guidance curriculum for social, emotional and cognitive development
Provides individual, developmental, preventative, remedial, short term and/or crisis counseling.
Identifies community and school resources, maintains lists and makes referrals as necessary.
Identifies and develops plan for transition of all students at end of year
Interfaces with the admissions department in interviewing new students, arranging for placement tests, proper scheduling and coordinating their orientation to school
Attends professional conferences
Supervision of students at various school functions such as field and overnight trips, school assemblies.
Attend all parent teacher conferences, back to school nights, faculty meetings, and substitutes in one class per week.
Participates in additional duties, for example leading a tefila, a club, and/or lunch/bagel break duties.
Demonstrate the requisite commitment to fulfilling the School’s mission and Philosophy, which includes, providing a religious education consistent with fundamental beliefs of Judaism and teaching children to embrace Jewish heritage.
