Villa Duchesne and Oak Hill School in St. Louis, Missouri seeks a Lower School Division Head/Principal for the 2018-19 school year. At the heart of this position is fostering a true learning community. As the educational leader of Oak Hill (the lower school that educates boys and girls age 3-grade 6), the individual is responsible for all day-to-day operations; hire, support, supervise, and assess the Lower School faculty; oversee the delivery of educational programs to students; participate in the ongoing creation and renewal of curriculum; and implement and oversee a strong character education program.
He/She will communicate in an effective, efficient, timely, and meaningful way with faculty, staff, students, and parents/guardians; ensure that the School’s core values of honesty, kindness, respect, and responsibility are established and maintained daily; oversee issues related to student well being; maintain a safe and secure working, learning, and teaching environment; and promote a culture that values diversity and inclusion. The individual should embrace a strong existing culture at Oak Hill while providing direction, vision, and focus toward the future; the opportunity to guide Oak Hill through a process of self-examination and assessment of current practices; and the opportunity to investigate innovative academic strategies that enhance student learning.

The ideal candidate will be an educator who loves children and is dedicated to seeing young learners thrive in a joyful, engaging environment. He/She should have five to seven years of teaching and administrative experience at the Lower School level, including experience with faculty hiring, teacher evaluation, scheduling, curriculum development, student life and activities, budgets, and management.
