The Assistant Head of Upper School works in coordination with the Head of Upper School to support the day-to-day operations and short/long-term initiatives and goals of the Upper School. The Assistant Head will also support the development, organization, cohesion and promotion of curriculum and programs for ninth through twelfth grades.
In addition to these responsibilities, the Assistant Head also teaches one academic class, as do all Academic Administrators.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Works in conjunction with the Head of Upper School, teachers and advisors to oversee the Upper School student experience throughout all grade levels.
Takes the lead on a variety curricular and pedagogical projects on behalf the teaching and learning program within the Upper School.
Supports all grade-level advisories in conjunction with the Head of Upper School.
Works with the Head of Upper School to ensure grade-level and curricular connections on a weekly and trimester basis, including grade-level projects and overarching questions.
With the Head of Upper School, attend and participate in bi-weekly grade level team meetings
With the Upper School Head and Deans, develop annual parent education.
Working closely with the student support team, serves as a primary communication and follow-through liaison for student issues as they arise.
Serves as an evaluator for a group of faculty members to further professional growth and development.
Partners with the Head of Upper School and Dean of Studies and Student Life for managing all discipline issues.
Serves as a lead on developing faculty and student culture and engagement.
In conjunction with Deans and Activities Director, takes the lead on activities, events, and programs that will establish school identity and foster school spirit.
Candidates must have demonstrated experience working with diverse groups of students, families and teachers, and specifically the school seeks candidates who have the following:

Pacific Ridge School is a college preparatory co-educational independent school, offering a rich and challenging program to 560 students in grades 7-12. Pacific Ridge School opened in 2007; finished its permanent high school building in 2010, and its athletic center in 2012.
