The Director of Planned Giving, a new position being created within the Institutional Advancement Office, will be responsible for the effective planning, organization, marketing, and implementation of a comprehensive planned giving program for Episcopal High School. This work will include maintaining and enhancing the current planned giving program, stewarding existing relationships, and cultivating and soliciting new commitments from alumni and other planned giving prospects. The Director of Planned Giving is an active, collaborative member of the advancement team and reports to the Director of Institutional Advancement. Success in this role will be critical to achievement of Episcopal’s next comprehensive campaign, which will be the largest in the School’s history and will include significant goals for endowment growth.
Design, manage, and implement the School’s planned giving program;
Identify, cultivate, and solicit prospects for planned gifts, maintaining an assigned portfolio of planned giving prospects and donors;
Develop and implement a planned giving communication plan, collaborating with the Director of Communications to execute electronic and print planned giving materials;
Collaborate with the Director of Stewardship and Advancement Services to implement and maintain a stewardship program for planned giving donors (Bell Society members) and prospects;
Maintain Raiser’s Edge action notes to include all prospect and donor contacts;
Plan and execute planned giving and endowment special events in collaboration with the Director of Special Events and the Director of Campaign and Leadership Giving.
Experience successfully soliciting major gifts ($25,000+) and planned gifts through donors’ estate planning
A minimum of five years of relevant, full-time experience in independent schools, higher education, or other nonprofit
As a frontline fundraiser, must be willing to travel and spend a minimum 60% of time actively engaging donors and prospects
Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to set priorities and meet multiple deadlines in a timely manner
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills
High level of computer literacy and competence required – particularly related to Raiser’s Edge database and software for reporting, calendars and timelines
