Milton Academy, established in 1798, is an independent coeducational national boarding and day school, serving 1,000 students in grades K-12 on a 125 acre campus eight miles south of Boston.
Milton Academy seeks Penn Residency Teaching Fellows and teaching Fellows will begin in September 2018.
In collaboration with the University of Pennsylvania and a consortium of six other leading boarding schools, Milton Academy is actively developing young scholars interested in teaching careers. Set on “preparing the next generation of outstanding teachers,” the Penn Residency Master’s in Teaching program involves prospective teachers in an innovative and comprehensive curriculum designed explicitly for a boarding school environment.
Over two years, Penn Residency fellows will immerse themselves in the daily life of Milton Academy as well as program course work sessions at Penn’s Graduate School of Education and on Milton’s campus. Designated Milton Academy faculty mentors will work with teaching fellows, and help them assume responsibility gradually, in teaching, advising, coaching—in helping young people discover and develop diverse talents.
The Penn Residency program was developed for energetic, recent college graduates excited about the opportunity to teach at a top boarding school while earning a master’s degree. To learn more about the Penn Residency Teaching Fellow Program, please visit www.gse.upenn.edu/boarding/
