Rocky Hill School seeks an experienced Director of Admissions and Financial Aid to lead the enrollment and outreach efforts of the school.
Founded in 1934, Rocky Hill School is an independent, coeducational, non-denominational, college preparatory day school in East Greenwich, RI made up of 300 students in preschool through grade 12. The Director of Admissions and Financial Aid will oversee and evolve a strategic and innovative admissions plan aimed at attracting and retaining mission-appropriate students for our growing student population. Managing a domestic and international admissions effort, the successful candidate will have experience in both areas of recruitment and serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) for the Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP). The Director will work with the Business Manager and Head of School to manage the Financial Aid program. Additionally, s/he will work with the Admissions Assistant and the Director of Marketing and Communications to promote the School using both inbound and outbound marketing techniques. Rocky Hill School’s Director of Admissions will value and embrace the School’s mission and serve as an ambassador of its programs and pedagogy. The Director will report to the Assistant Head of School for External Affairs.
Design and implement an engaging admissions experience for prospective students and their families from point of inquiry through matriculation
Develop and manage a strategic recruitment plan that incorporates inbound and outbound marketing, innovative enrollment methods and a highly personalized client experience
Manage admissions and financial aid budgets
Supervise and evaluate Admission Assistant
Oversee the Admission Committee in the discernment of admission decisions
Manage Admissions events and programs including, but not limited to, Open House, Bring a Friend to School Day, and Accepted Students Day; support Division Heads in execution of retention efforts at the key grade levels
Collaborate and communicate with the senior leadership team and faculty to be able to best represent the mission and educational objectives of the school
Report on key admission-related metrics to Head of School, Board of Trustees, and faculty as needed
Keep up to date with admission trends by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations
Conduct campus tours for prospective students, families, consultants, agents, and other various constituents
Cultivate positive and professional relationships with feeder school leaders, placement directors, educational consultants, outside institutions or groups such as Project GOAL, Star Kids, Naval War College, professional organizations, and other referral sources in local target markets
Issue and manage re-enrollment of current students and coordinate all re-enrollment activity with constant monitoring of attrition
Communicate, organize, manage, and administer financial aid, merit aid, remission and named scholarships
Establish and pursue new international student markets in an effort to diversify the School’s international student population including traveling overseas to recruit students, meeting with agencies, and skyping with prospective students and families
Work with Coordinator of International Programs to manage international student experience and host family program
Advise Admission Assistant in management of a network of parents, former parents, and alumni, as well as the student ambassador program, to assist in the admissions program
REQUIREMENTS AND ATTRIBUTES
7+ years of experience as an Admissions Director in an independent school environment
Skill in public relations, communications, strategic marketing, board relations, and/or school management
Bachelor’s Degree in related field, masters preferred
Knowledge of and appreciation for 21st century educational trends
Fluency in the use of Education Edge, Veracross, and MS Office applications
Knowledge of best practices in the financial aid process
Experience in international student recruitment and management
Collaborative leadership style and desire to partner with administrators, teachers, students, and staff to advance the School
Willingness to attend school functions (including evenings and weekends) in order to build relationships with school stake holders and build word-of-mouth advocates
Strong management skills including attention to detail, facility with data, creative problem solving, and solid organizational skills
