English/Language Arts, History/Social Studies, Special Needs
4 Year Degree
The Siena School, grades 4-12, is in its 12th year, with an expanding enrollment. The school seeks an aspiring educator to assist in the classroom and help run the afterschool homework program. There is a possibility of teaching some history/social studies as well. Hours are 10 am to 6 pm. The teacher would participate in all teaching training and professional development. The particular age group would depend on the candidate's interest (elementary, middle or high school). Many of our apprentice have moved into other positions at the school as they have gained experience. The school serves bright college-bound students with mild to moderate language-based learning differences, such as dyslexia.
Candidates should have interest in working with students with learning differences.
The Siena School has become a national leader in educating bright, college-bound students with mild to moderate language-based learning differences. With 125 students in grades 4-12, including 40% students of color, the school has completed a new wing, increasing capacity to over 150 students. The school has presented at national and international conferences, including the NAIS Annual Conference, and is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
