Maryvale Preparatory School is seeking a college counseling professional with firsthand knowledge of college admissions and financial aid. The ideal candidate should possess the skills to assess students’ needs accurately and the desire to serve as a passionate and compassionate advocate to guide our students and their families in finding the right college match.

Solid organizational and time management skills capable of balancing multiple projects.
Primary responsibilities include:
Counseling students and their parents – through the college search, financial aid, and application process with enthusiasm, compassion and patience.
Collaborating with other staff, faculty, and administrators.
Guiding students and parents to understand the importance of fit and self-discovery throughout the college search and application process.
Developing strong, ongoing relationships with college admissions personnel.
Traveling to college campuses and various local, regional, and national conferences.
Showing a commitment to engaging with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
Responsibility for Upper School standardized testing (PSAT, SAT, ACT, AP, etc.).
Attending school and community-wide events to better know students and families and to become a visible and integral part of the school community.
Bachelor’s degree is required. In addition, successful candidates will have several years of relevant experience in either college admissions or college counseling. Professional skills include a solid knowledge in need-based financial aid and Naviance. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to equity and inclusion and have experience working with a diverse student population. Successful candidates must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends to support college counseling programs, write recommendations and travel to colleges and conferences. Candidates are subject to successful completion of a criminal background check.
