Latin School of Chicago, an independent K-12 school located in Chicago’s Lincoln Park area, is seeking an interim full-time Middle School/Lower School Dance/Creative Movement instructor within the Performing Arts Department for the 2018/2019 school year only. The position includes teaching several middle school and lower school creative movement classes. A master’s degree in dance education is preferred, as is 5 years-experience working with middle school and lower school-aged students. Extensive knowledge of dance/movement pedagogy, methods, and best practices for pre- and elementary school students is a must. Advanced skill with technology is a plus.
Responsibilities include: teaching dance/creative movement to classes of 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students and an option to lead a middle school dance club. As an instructor in the Lower School, the teacher will work with the Physical Education Department, teaching movement to Junior and Senior Kindergarten students. The teacher is required to do assigned supervisions, such as lunch, study hall, and recess monitors, attend all faculty meetings, and act as a middle school homeroom teacher.
