POSITION Community School is seeking a dynamic and experienced Upper School French language teacher to begin August 13, 2018. This teacher will teach all levels of French, from beginner to advanced, in our Upper School. The ideal candidate will have native or near-native proficiency, will be well-versed in ACTFL’s guidelines and proficiency levels, and will be passionate and knowledgeable about the French-speaking world. Extensive knowledge of francophone literature and culture is important. Additional responsibilities include: serving as an Upper School advisor, participating in the school's extensive Outdoor Program, and leading at least one additional Upper School extracurricular activity. Knowledge of Spanish is a plus but not required, and, for the right candidate, serving as a live-in residential advisor in our Boarding Program is a possibility.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability and desire to work within a collaborative, learner-centered, and inquiry-based educational program where innovation, differentiation, and a growth mindset are valued. Above all, the successful candidate must have a love for teaching high school students and demonstrate an engaged and flexible approach in the classroom and beyond.
