Randolph School is seeking candidates for a Middle School (grades 5-8) Visual Art teacher to begin August 2018.
Candidates must have full knowledge of concepts, processes, materials, and techniques as needed in studio courses. Special consideration will be given to candidates that may bring innovative instructional experience in new processes including technological media. The department also expects a creative and dynamic colleague who can communicate effectively orally and in writing; who demonstrates a collaborative attitude, who can manage a variety of tasks concurrently while meeting established deadlines and changing priorities; and who will add his/her own dimension to a dynamic team. Above all the candidate must be committed to the advancement of student learning through dedicated, exemplary instruction in accordance with established course in a manner that supports and promotes the Randolph School Mission.
Instruct students in the use of a variety of mediums, including paints, pencils, clay, chalk and pastels so that students produce a finished art piece that demonstrates knowledge of a certain technique or theory.
Create an environment that encourages creative expression while nurturing artistic abilities.
Introduce students to well-known artists and art movements and strive to develop an appreciation for art in the students.
Participate in the development and revision of course offerings and curriculum, program review, and school committees as required to maintain and improve the instructional program.
Plan and collaborate with the other teachers for special events including exhibitions.
Participate in department activities, school meetings and professional development opportunities.
Perform other assigned tasks for the benefit of students, school and department.
Education Qualifications: Bachelors degree in art, education with a specialization in art, or art education; relevant background experience; knowledge of childhood behavior and experience with teaching children required. Extracurricular interest in athletics will be given additional consideration.
