Rippowam Cisqua School seeks an experienced, talented, and aspirational educator for the position of Head of Lower Campus. The Head of Lower Campus will serve as a member of the Senior Administrative team and will report directly to the Head of School. This person will be directly responsible for all school-related activities on our Lower Campus, including oversight of the academic and extracurricular programs.
This is an exciting time for Rippowam Cisqua, as we are in the midst of our Centennial Year and we maintain great optimism and energy. Our new Head of Lower Campus will have a unique opportunity to shape a significant part of our school program as Rippowam Cisqua enters its second century.
The ideal candidate for the position will:
Be deeply committed to and passionate about the education of lower school aged children, including early childhood. She/he will have a clear sensitivity to the unique challenges presented by this age group, and have a strong background in the research and literature related to the social and emotional growth of children.
Have a demonstrated history of developing and exploring innovative curriculum design, particularly in Grades 1 through 4. The candidate will support creative methods of teaching and assessment, and will promote new academic and intellectual initiatives. A strong background in math curriculum evaluation and development is a plus.
Have a strong, successful background in the hiring of teachers, including assistants, and must have a genuine commitment to diversifying our faculty. Additionally, the candidate should have a team-oriented mindset, and be well versed in the appropriate use of professional development funds for faculty growth.
Have experience evaluating faculty and background knowledge of varied evaluative tools. She/he will set clear expectations for faculty and staff and prioritize frequent assessment of progress. Supervision of the Children’s Afterschool Time Activities Coordinator and support of the program is also expected.
Make communication a priority. The candidate should welcome opportunities to speak publically, both extemporaneously and formally, and should have great facility writing to multiple constituencies.
Understand the complexities of scheduling and have exposure to a wide range of academic schedules.
Have an appreciation for the overall wellness of children, and have an inclination to support the endeavors of the all-school Wellness committee.
Immerse herself/himself in the life of the School through attendance at games, performances, and events, and have a presence in the larger Bedford community.
Appreciate the uniqueness and value of an independent school education.
Possess a warm, collaborative, and generous spirit and have a predisposition to laughter, fun, and collegiality.

Additional Salary Information: Compensation is highly competitive and will be commensurate with experience. Housing is provided adjacent to the Upper Campus in a three-bedroom home, and tuition remission is available if needed.
