Professional Children's School, located in Manhattan, provides an academic education to students in grades 6-12 who are professional or pre-professional in the arts and athletics. We are seeking a full-time, non-instrumental Music Teacher for grades 6-12, beginning in September 2018.
The Professional Children’s School Arts Program provides students with opportunities to participate in multiple forms of artistic expression. The goal is to supplement, enhance and expand on the rich experiences our students engage in outside of school. It is our hope that the students will come to discover and appreciate how exposure to diverse art forms serves to enrich their understanding of the human condition in general, and to deepen their approach to their chosen professions in particular. The overarching goal is to help students to find their voices and to develop the confidence and skill to express their unique perspectives.
We seek a full-time music teacher who is an expert in the field of music education, with experience teaching children in grades 6-12 who possesses a clear vision for music education in an academically-focused independent school and an ability to emphasize the value of process rather than product. Candidates should have a love of working with children aged 10-18 who are heterogeneously grouped while many are advanced in their study of music outside of school. Candidates should be enthusiastic collaborators with experience in co-producing concerts and plays, should possess extensive patience, and who are able to bring extraordinary flexibility to their work.
Qualified candidates should send a cover letter and resume to firstname.lastname@example.org.
