In the Nursery and Kindergarten Program, children learn to play and play to learn. Head Teachers are responsible for building a nurturing, challenging, and supportive classroom environment that fosters mutual respect and age appropriate levels of independence. Create activities that support mathematical and spatial thinking, literacy, knowledge about the physical world and the development of empathy. Develop curriculum to support play and exploration and the construction of relationships and ideas.
Build deep relationships with students, families, and staff to foster a culture of community. Maintain strong lines of communication with families about student progress, and go above and beyond to support and collaborate closely with teammates in the united pursuit of Lab's mission. Head Teachers report to the Principal of the Early Childhood program.
Full-time teachers are expected to work a 40-hour week and the required number of days as stipulated in the Faculty Association contract. All teachers are expected to perform in accordance with the terms and conditions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Anticipated start date for this position is 9/1/2018.
Prior early childhood teaching experience required. A minimum of three years of teaching experience preferred. Experience developing curriculum preferred. Experience working with a wide range of students with diverse backgrounds such as race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, learning abilities, class, language and nationality.
