Stone Ridge is seeking a Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to begin on August 1, 2018.
Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten in Bethesda, Maryland. With over 700 students, and rooted in the Goals of Sacred Heart education, Stone Ridge inspires young women to lead and serve, through lives of purpose that integrate faith, intellect, community, social action, and personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.
The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion oversees efforts to foster a community of inclusivity in which all members feel welcome and respected. As the School assesses existing programs and practices, the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion provides leadership in the development of a vision that comprehensively incorporates diversity, equity, and inclusion and the School’s mission, and s/he will provide facilitative leadership for resulting initiatives. S/he collaborates with school leaders to develop inclusive and multicultural curricular and co-curricular programming that reflect the School’s mission and commitment to diversity. S/he identifies resources and manages budget for programs related to training and professional development for the Board of Trustees, administration, faculty, and staff. The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion represents the School and network at Admissions Fairs and Open Houses. S/he teaches courses as determined by the candidate’s background and the needs of the program. As a member of the School’s Management Team, the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion collaborates with other program leaders and administrators to shape the programmatic and professional life of the School.

The ideal candidate possesses knowledge of and experience with Catholic schools and the Sacred Heart tradition. An advanced degree is preferred, and professional experience in diversity, equity, and inclusion is essential. S/he has excellent communication and organization skills; ideally, s/he is knowledgeable of applicable federal and state laws. S/he demonstrates flexibility and an enthusiasm for the School’s mission and culture.
