Maret School is looking for a Performing Arts Department Chair to join the faculty for the 2018-2019 school year. The chair will supervise the department, oversee all performance productions, serve on our K-12 curriculum committee and teach. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership and managerial skills, has at least five years experience in teaching performing arts and a passion for choral, band, drama, musical theater and theater production. Maret embraces a multicultural view of the arts that represents many voices and perspectives and encourages a lifelong love of performance. Equity and inclusion is at the heart of all we do. Teaches and advises
Holds regular department meetings
Manages departmental budgets
Oversees all performing arts productions, performances and trips including an annual out-of-state, week-long Intensive Study Week choral & band trip
Visits regularly each teacher's classes and maintains a curriculum of clearly defined scope and sequence in grades K-12 according to the objectives of Maret’s Strategic Directions
Provides professional development opportunities for teachers in the methods and content required for effective teaching in band, choral, drama, music and/or technical theatre
Allots teaching assignments yearly; finds the optimum role for each teacher within the program, while keeping in mind overall School needs
Serves as mentor to all department members
Leads the vision for the department and program
Serves as a member of Maret's Curriculum Committee, a major decision-making group overseeing the School’s educational program and the requirements
