The successful candidate will be a master educator who displays passion for teaching high school English and literature; other responsibilities and competencies include:
Teaching 5 sections of English. Courses will include sections of Honors English II and CP English II (currently transitioning to a world/culture focus), as well as Creative Writing, but teaching assignment could be modified in future years, depending on the unique qualifications of the candidate
Oversight of publication of award-winning literary magazine “The Living Hand” in conjunction with the Creative Writing course
Connecting with students, challenging them, and working with students with diverse backgrounds and perspectives
Advising 10-12 students and facilitating the integration of our “Lead from Here” curriculum
Coaching a sport is highly desirable
Demonstrating effective technology skills, including the ability to use our learning management system (Veracross)
Serving on committees and/or leading an active student club
Demonstrating a growth mindset and the ability to receive feedback, adapt to different learners’ needs, and become a valued colleague in a strong and cohesive English department
Bachelor’s degree in English or a related field; MA or MEd highly desirable. English teaching experience preferred, with special attention paid to experience teaching world literature.
