Over the last several years, AIM Academy has established and grown a program which focuses on entrepreneurial education and innovative thinking. This program currently begins with an elective offering in sixth grade and that offering continues through twelfth grade. Student entrepreneurs take part in coursework where they learn how to identify needs in the market, develop products, make small business plans, build prototypes, design marketing strategies, appeal to investors, distribute their products, and account for revenue.
This program has led to prestigious student awards such as the Entrepreneur of the Year award from the Mayor of Philadelphia, a student published book about millennials and teen entrepreneurship, a student delivered Ted Talk, over 50% of AIM graduates pursuing business degrees, and a number of successfully launched student run businesses that have yielded real income. For students, truly focused on Entrepreneurship as a post-secondary pursuit, we have also partnered with Drexel University’s Close School of Entrepreneurship where AIM seniors can be dual enrolled and earn up to six college credits. AIM graduates are accepted to top colleges in the field of Entrepreneurship such as Babson, Baylor, University of Michigan, University of Minnesota, Indiana University, Syracuse University, University of Arizona, Drexel, and more.
AIM has explored student Entrepreneurship through a unique partnership with an outside organization. In the 2018 – 2019 school year, we are interested in launching an even more intensive approach and therefore, are offering this new position to lead our Entrepreneurship initiative. This individual will possess a passion for pushing creative young minds to think resourcefully, critically, and ethically.
