St. Margaret’s Episcopal School, the premier, independent, college preparatory day school in Orange County, California, is seeking an inspiring educator to join the community as Director of Equity and Inclusion. As a senior administrator reporting to the Head of School, the Director will lead the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures that embody St. Margaret’s ongoing commitment to an equitable and inclusive school community. The Director will connect with all school constituencies and provide leadership, guidance and insight to build on the school’s momentum and action around this important work.
Key responsibilities include:
Lead the execution of the school’s Strategic Plan goals for developing cultural competency skills and fostering an inclusive community
Lead the development and implementation of a cultural competency framework and inclusive, multicultural curricula across all divisions
Serve as a coaching resource for faculty in the areas of inclusive classroom teaching practices, multicultural curriculum design, cultural competency skill development and individual student support, and model these practices at the highest level through teaching a course on campus (content area based on teaching background)
In collaboration with the administration team, ensure an inclusive hiring process and increase effectiveness in cultivating, recruiting, mentoring and retaining faculty, staff and administrators of color
Measure, analyze, benchmark and report the school’s progress on matters of diversity, equity and inclusion using quantitative and qualitative data
Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred)
Leadership experience including presentations, workshops and committee work on topics of diversity, equity and inclusion
Personal and professional development through conferences and workshops devoted to diversity, equity and inclusion
St. Margaret’s seeks to hire an engaging Science Teacher with a background in chemistry and physics to teach 9th Grade Physics and possibly a section of Honors Chemistry. The Science Department is part of a highly functioning and highly achieving Upper School of 475 bright, dedicated students and 60 talented faculty members.
