The Upper School seeks an experienced Dean of Students Anticipated Start Date: July 2018
Reports to: Head of Upper School Classification: Exempt
Qualifications: BS required, Masters preferred. Three to five years school experience preferred
Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following:
Collaborates with US Head and Dean of Studies on setting and reviewing school policy and programs
Addresses discipline issues with students, parents, and faculty
Assists US Head with student orientations, parent evenings, and curriculum nights
Develops and directs advisory program for grades 9 -12
Assists with student transition from middle school to upper school
Assists in mentoring faculty in their professional responsibilities
Attends Department Chair meetings as needed
Serves as member of the Upper School support team
Disseminates information and offers guidance about summer leadership programs/opportunities
Helps coordinate the Visiting Students Program
Liaises with student mentoring programs - Teak, Prep, etc.
Oversees extracurricular program - student clubs/publications
Manages student council and develops leadership programs for Upper School students
Manages the student activities & field trips budgets
Manages assembly/speaker program
Plans Upper School student events and trips
Oversees chaperones for all student events
Assists Admissions Department with student visit days
Facilitates class picture schedule with the PA
Manages 3rd floor bulletin board displays
Liaises with Development Office about student events/commendations
Teaches a class
