Greenwich Academy seeks a talented beginning teacher to serve as a fellow in our world languages department. Multilingual candidates are preferred, but both Spanish-only and French-only candidates will be considered. The fellowship offers a teacher new to the profession the opportunity to work with motivated, talented students in a community that prizes learning and professional growth. The fellow will receive extensive support from colleagues in the department and will have the opportunity to observe classes taught by those colleagues as part of his or her regular schedule. The fellow will teach two or three sections of Middle School languages, will serve as an advisor and will participate in other areas of school life as appropriate. These may include sponsoring a student club or organization, coaching and helping with other activities.
Successful candidates will be excited to work in a rigorous academic environment and will be eager to immerse themselves in the school community. A commitment to using a variety of teaching strategies is expected. Candidates should be enthusiastic learners themselves and should be eager to teach and learn in an environment dedicated to thoughtful, ongoing diversity work. Participation in the University of Pennsylvania's Residency Master's in Teaching will be supported by Greenwich Academy if the fellow chooses to pursue a master's degree while a fellow at the school.
