The Middle School is seeking a full-time Social Studies Teacher to teach 5 sections of a combination of US History, World Cultures and Civics. This faculty member will begin in August of the 2018-2019 school year.
A successful candidate will have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Humanities, or a closely related field (Master’s degree is preferred); a minimum of three years of teaching experience, preferably with Middle School students, experience leading a department in curriculum development, and demonstrate the capacity to navigate a curriculum ranging from 6th grade US History, 7th grade civics, and 8th grade world cultures.
The candidate should have a passion for interacting with middle school students in and outside of the classroom and an ability to thrive in a collaborative work environment that values innovation and creativity. A sense of humor and a positive and ambitious attitude are highly desirable. Candidates must be able to use technology to enhance the classroom experience and to use a range of literature and resources that represent diverse cultures, experiences and viewpoints.
