Maret School seeks an experienced Associate Director of College Counseling to support our students and families in their individual college search, application, financial aid and enrollment processes. The Associate Director supports the work and initiatives of the college counseling office. This twelve-month position reports directly to the Director of College Counseling. The ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; familiarity with the goals, objectives, and mission of Maret School; the ability to respond effectively to the needs of a diverse and demanding student and parent population; knowledge of colleges, their academic programs, admission policies, and financial policies and procedures. Necessary skills include excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational ability, and the ability to meet deadlines. Experience in college admissions, independent schools, and high school college counseling preferred. Familiarity with Naviance, Veracross and other admissions and counseling related software are plusses.
The Associate Director is responsible for:
Creating a warm and responsive atmosphere for all Maret families;
Advising students and families about the research, application, and matriculation phases of the college process;
Establishing collegial relationships with college and university admissions representatives;
Writing compelling and authentic letters of recommendation for students;
Monitoring and acquiring knowledge about current trends in the college landscape;
Maintaining active membership in appropriate professional organizations;
Public speaking at college-related programming for families throughout the year;
Collaborating with the college counseling office on program design and events;
Representing Maret positively to external audiences;
Creating and maintaining appropriate resources for students and their families;
Performing other tasks upon the request of the Head of School or her designates;
Supporting and maintaining the school’s Mission & Philosophy; and
Upholding Maret’s commitment to Equity & Inclusion.
