The Teacher Librarian will be a highly effective and dynamic professional, who will work alongside classroom teachers to create an exciting and enriching library that is inviting and relevant to children’s learning. The Teacher Librarian will take responsibility for our library as well as play a key role in supporting the planning and coordination of reading and writing activities throughout GEMS World Academy.
To manage a vibrant and effective library, promoting a love of reading
To be responsible for managing resources, using a library management system
To organize curriculum support including resources for teaching staff and students.
Support teachers in the delivery and development of reading and writing across the curriculum
Support the whole World Academy reading and writing strategy
To attend courses and meetings relevant to the development of the library
To organize the daily running of the library, to order books in consultation with the classroom teachers and teach research skills in library weekly sessions
Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years' experience in leading and managing all aspects of a library
Experience in IB MYP, IBDP will be an asset
In-depth experience of latest learning technologies is a prerequisite
Applicants should have a Library Science Degree or Teaching Certification
