The MAP Teacher reports to the Director and Assistant Director of Ancillary Programs. Montessori Afternoons Plus, or MAP, is a comfortable, safe, and progressive after school program for children from the Threes through Grade Eight. MAP offers a rich variety of activities under the guidance of our experienced staff. The program is open both to BHMS students as well as children from the local community. This is a 10 month position working from mid August through mid June. Compensation is $20/hour.
LOWER SCHOOL MAP: Preschool and Lower Elementary MAP teachers mainly care for students ages 3.5 to 9 years old in preschool through grade 3. They supervise students on the roof playground, in the gym, and in the home base classroom, as well as assist specialist teachers with classes.
MIDDLE SCHOOL MAP: Middle School MAP teachers mainly monitor our students in grades 4-8. They supervise Study Club, assisting where necessary, and manage the transitions from Study Club to classes. The Middle School MAP teachers create a “free-time” curriculum and schedule for those students that have finished their work and projects and are not registered for classes. Strong classroom management skills are a must.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Pick-ups from local schools, preparing and serving snack, helping with work and projects, leading small group activities and games, assisting specialist teachers with classes (Chess, Soccer, etc) and playing on our rooftop playground or gym.
Bachelor's Degree preferred
Experience working with children required
Willingness to work with 3-14 year-old children
Ability to think creatively and work collaboratively
Available Monday-Friday 3:00-6:00pm with one monthly team meeting from 6:00-7:15pm.
This is a 10 month position (mid August through mid June)
