Charlotte Latin School is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and highly organized Middle School Choral Music Teacher. This is a 10-month position that begins August 2018.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach chorus in grades five through eight
Serve as an advisor for a small group of Middle School students
Attend weekly team meeting of grade-level advisors
Assist with the Upper School Concert Choir
Serve as Music Director for the Middle School Musical
Prepare and supervise students at Honors and All-State Ensembles
Master’s degree in music education preferred
Experience teaching in an independent K-12 school preferred, preferably at the middle grades level.
Minimum of three years teaching choral music in a school setting is required
Exhibit a love of working with children in this age group
Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong desire to participate in the whole life of the school
Ability to work independently and within a team
The ability to build a strong rapport with colleagues and serve as a collaborative team player
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Adherence to the highest level of professionalism by demonstrating honesty, integrity, and maturity
